In 1996 the Gateway Cities Council of Governments created the Gateway Cities Partnership to assist with the Economic Development in the region. The Partnership staff currently manages projects in economic development, financial services, education, workforce development, business assistance and sustainability planning.
The Gateway Cities Council of Governments' regional leadership and ongoing programs address important issues which are the basis for continued economic vitality in the region. Traffic congestion, poor air quality, limited housing and environmental deterioration can all be factors which adversely affect the regional economy.
